Chyawanaprash (Ayurvedic fruit puree) is an "Ayurvedic staple food" and is one of the Rasayanams. A distinction is made between "Special Chyawanprash" (Special Chyavanaprasan) and "Chyawanprash". The "Special" is less complex to produce and therefore cheaper. Authentic Chyawanprash is expensive due to the very special production and ingredients. In India, large parts of the population can therefore only afford the "Special". For quality reasons, we only offer the real Chyawanprash! Chyawanprash - Chawanprash - Chyavanaprasham Due to the cultural and linguistic diversity of India, there are different spellings for Chyawanprash (different in Sanskrit, Hindi or Malayam). But only a product that has been elaborately processed according to the original Ayurvedic recipe (i.e. according to original Ayurvedic texts) can be called “Chyawanprash” or, for example, “Chyavanaprasham”. Manufacturers who do not adhere to the original recipe call their products “Special Chyawanprash”, for example. In classical Ayurveda, Chyawanprash is one of the so-called Rasayanas (the word is made up of Rasa and Ayana).
Chyawanprash is an authentic Ayurvedic dietary supplement, rich in historical references and legends. The first references to Chyawanprash date back to 3000 years before the common era. According to the ancient Ayurvedic text “Charaka Samhita”, the first and oldest Ayurvedic treatise, Chyawanprash can be consumed daily. Most of the herbs in the recipe are boiled in water and then the dried extract is mixed with cane sugar. The aromatic herbal powders cardamom, cinnamon and cloves are then added. The finished product is like a sugar syrup, but with a slightly sour and slightly spicy taste. Amalaki (Amla, Latin Emblica officinalis, German Indian gooseberry) and cane sugar are the main ingredients. According to the ancient Ayurvedic texts, unrefined cane sugar serves as a carrier for the herbs.
